Energy transition is the global shift from fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas to cleaner, renewable sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower. It’s about reimagining how we power our world—reducing carbon emissions, improving efficiency, and building a sustainable future.
Lack of access to clean cooking is one of the key energy transition challenges. Clean and improved cooking refers to using efficient, low-emission stoves and fuels that reduce indoor air pollution, protect forests, and cut climate-harming emissions. In many communities, clean cooking means less time collecting fuel, lower exposure to smoke for women and children, and more time for education and work.
We supported a pilot study on distribution and lifetime tracking of clean and improved cookstoves across vulnerable communities in some counties in Kenya and Uganda. These pages provide context on the kind of project data this entailed.
